A Five Star Review for The Scented Garden Retreat Chester

Since the pandemic started, I have got to know the city much better – and some of the incredible, hard working and hugely resourceful business people who make it work.

One such person is Laura Heywood, and having learnt more about her story, she has given me even more confidence that we will well and truly get through this challenge due to the talent and pure determination of our local independent business heroes.

I had heard about The Scented Garden Retreat, but not being one for a bit of self love and pampering (that’s now changed!), I just hadn’t discovered this oasis of calm and relaxation right in the heart of the city. Tucked up on Northgate Street Row, you would think a spa located somewhere like this would be fairly small and compact – but not so! I described this recently as a bit of a tardis – an unexpected space offering so many fabulous treatments covering all areas – a warm haven of tranquility it certainly is.

Laura invited me in for a very special double treatment last week, and not only was the experience pretty heavenly – but I am still seeing and feeling the benefits over a week later. I think there’s a lot to be said for just taking some time out, turning off your phone and switching off – something I find very difficult to achieve right now. But Laura made it happen, and even if I had just laid down in one of her gorgeous treatments rooms and had a rest with some soothing music and lighting (also the perfect temperature), it would have been more than enough.

But this lovely lady and her team had decided to take great care of me with a neck and back massage first, followed by the revolutionary CACI facial treatment to follow.

The Aromatherapy Back and Neck massage at The Scented Garden Retreat was a real treat for me. As I mentioned, life during and post lockdown has been a real whirlwind. I simply haven’t stopped and I know takes its toll from time to time. I don’t find relaxation particularly easy and switching off is very difficult indeed. This is an ideal treatment to help break down tension knots that occur around the neck and shoulders using essential oils, which promote relaxation and a feeling of well-being. Tick! I have now committed to having a massage at least once a fortnight as I felt so much better afterwards. Thank you Gemma, I’ll be booking in again this week if you have the availability.

Next was the CACI non-surgical facelift from Laura. Perfect for those needing high precision results, CACI treatments gently lifts, tightens and tones the facial muscles whilst smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Skin is beautifully re-hydrated whilst tone and texture is improved leaving the skin with a wonderful glow and a firmer more supple appearance. This was like a magic treatment! Firstly, it’s difficult to imagine that a totally non-invasive treatment can make such a difference. Not only is this treatment delivered with the same amount of professionalism and care that is present in every single aspect of this business, but the results are WOW! You know yourself when something has really worked for you, and this treatment made me (and my poor tired skin) feel a million dollars. So much so that I am still seeing improvements over a week later.

I also have to mention the Covid-secure safety measures in place at The Scented Garden Retreat. As with every business I have reviewed post-lockdown, they were exemplary – but did not take away from the overall ethos and enjoyment of the experience.

Most definitely a five star review from me. Every aspect of my visit was absolutely first class.
