Its time … to get Back in Business with The Great Chester Comeback campaign

I hope we will never have the need to say that again. But however you look at it, it is indeed time for The Great Chester Comeback, and together we can make this a super-exciting chapter of our Chester story.

If you have been following our social – and particularly the One Chester facebook group, you will see that we opened up our platform to everyone who needed us free of charge, and needless to say its been an incredibly rewarding time. I hope that We Love Good Times can now re-emerge as a platform which you all feel a part of and want to keep close by as your local go-to place for the good things in life.

And as far as Chester is concerned, there are so many good things to look forward to.

If you had a chance to watch any of my Great Chester People interviews, you will see that many of our operators have used their time to rest, spend very valuable time with their families and – with some new found headspace, come up with some fabulously funky new ideas to WOW us with as we come out of lockdown.

We will definitely be continuing with our Great Chester People campaign and will be doing a lot more interviews with the city’s business owners as they reopen (socially distanced of course), so don’t miss them.

So what else is new for WLGT?

A Box Office! That’s what – for the hottest tickets in town.

I have always wanted to create our very own Box Office. And now we have – in collaboration with our local and independent partner venues. We will only be selling totally unique and safe, socially distanced experiences, completely bespoke to WLGT and packaged up with a whole lotta love, exclusively for you. Our tickets will be limited in number (when they’re gone, they’re gone) and will also make great gifts for those around you who have gone over and above the call of duty, including those very special key workers in your life.

Apart from our new Youtube channel and Box Office, we will be making more fuss of our beloved venues and our Reviewing Chester section will be much more of a focus. We have definitely learned over this period how much you love our Restaurant & Experience reviews – they literally get thousands of page views, so we think this is a pretty good way of supporting our amazing independents as they reopen their doors. We will review their new menus and new offerings (as well as their new cocktail lists of course), as well as including new sections on safety.

Please see a couple of examples of our reviews pre-lockdown, from Hypha (Michelin recommended plant-based independent restaurant) and Rack & Ruin Alpacas, the friendliest hair-bear bunch in town;

I have also found a renewed passion for writing this year, and I have seriously enjoyed researching and creating our new WLGT Essential Guides to – pretty much everything! I have written guides about the best Sunday Roasts, how to celebrate VE Day and previously to lockdown – how to celebrate Valentines (underwear included) and where to find the best Martinis (the dirtier the better for me). You can find our guides as well as some pretty cool local stories in our Best of Chester section on our home page.

We will still promote all the best Offers & Dining Deals that Chester has to offer, and – as life truly gets back to normal (whenever that will be), we will bring back our What’s On & Events guide so we can all party like we mean it together once again.

If you are a local business and would like to become a part of The Great Chester Comeback, then please get in touch izzy@wlgt.co.uk. We promise we won’t charge you too much (but we have to eat too!) and we’ll love you like crazy, from a safe distance of course!

Business memberships are open now, ready to start on 1st July.

Places are limited as we really want to do the very best job we can for all of our members (existing members will be given first refusal for new subscriptions).

You can also support us in other ways. The Great Chester Comeback t-shirts can be purchased along with your company logo for a minimum order of 10. Please contact me for details.

Massive thank you to local artists Living Vicariously Art who created this fabulous piece of artwork for us.
