A new exciting contribution to the Chester art scene opened in 4 Bridge Street on Friday 31st July.
This is the first PACh (Place for the Arts in Chester) gallery – PLACE 1.
PACh is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. It was formed by local business people all with an interest in Art, and a passion to make a difference to the City of Chester, its residents, its visitors and its local artists.
None of the directors are taking money out of this venture, PACh takes a small percentage of all sales to cover the costs of opening and running the gallery, and any profit made from commission will all be re-invested into opening more shops.
Their goals are simple:
- To have fun
- Create a lively and interesting space for displaying, selling, meeting and learning
- Help local artists to have access to a wider audience,
- To create something that you – reading this (the wider audience) will appreciate and enjoy.
By occupying vacant shops on a short-term basis, the aim is to be a catalyst to much needed urban regeneration and be part of a renaissance of the Chester Art Movement as a whole. PLACE 2 will also be opening soon and others will follow.
So in summary – PACh is a business OF Chester, FOR Chester & the directors and artists are keen to receive any ideas as to how they can do things better : – they are eager to learn and improve.
