Artisan bakehouse sharing deliciously healthy produce with their Chester neighbours, with plenty of veggie and vegan options.
I get incredibly excited when any new food and drink business opens in the city. The fact that Neighbourhood Bakehouse has opened in such a challenging period is testimony to the fabulous couple who have created it.
Cat and Dave know the city well. They live here, and previously owned a very successful coffee house and bistro in Hoole called Baked, which is remembered so fondly by so many local people.
The couple had always planned to open Neighbourhood Bakery this year, and the small matter of a global pandemic wasn’t going to stop them. They secured their unit a few months ago and have cracked on with creating this super-cool new Bakehouse on Northgate Street, which they share with many other great quality, local independents.
Neighbourhood Bakery opened with a takeaway service during lockdown number two and opens fully this week coming. I went to see them just before they opened the doors for the first time to learn more about their plans, which include extending the bakery side and outside catering to local businesses.
They serve the most delicious fresh bread daily made by local artisan bakers, but you’ll need to arrive before 10.30am as it sells out pretty damn quickly, and the cakes …. are totally delicious too. I cannot wait to pop in over the next few weeks as their new chef starts for a delicious lunch and a great cup of coffee, sitting on a swing in the window and watching the world go by.
Neighbourhood Bakehouse is a fabulous addition to the city’s independent food and drink scene, and a great new weekday hangout for me too!
